CARLINGFORD PARK Riding Ponies
Striving For Excellence
January 28th, 2010.
As another show season gets underway Carlingford Park ponies are already making their presence felt on the scene.
At the Hunter Valley Twilight Show Carlingford Park Intrigue made his debut for the year taking out Champion Pony hack. With owner Kristy Glover in the saddle Isaak worked impeccably to impress judge Joh Bailey. Undaunted by the stifling conditions or the fact he was stepping out in a double bridle as a seasoned pony Isaak never fails to reward the effort invested in him by a very dedicated Kristy...
Carlingford Park High Society also made a return to the ring. Looking beautifully conditioned Sabrina took out the Intermediate class and Open Pony 13-13.2hh and whilst not foot perfect in the championship she is on the improve. We couldn't be happier with the effort Colleen and Sara put into their charge, who doesn't always make it 100% easy for them.

What a wonderful start to Idol and Morgan's partnership. At only 3 years of age and with only one previous show outing under his belt (where he won the Child's and an open class) Idol worked so soft and willingly for his young jockey. We couldn't be prouder of them both. A real credit to the effort of Morgan and her dedicated family and to the temperament of Idol. We'll done to you and thank you for doing our stud proud. We'd also like to thank both Melissa McVeagh and Francene Treneman for their contribution to Idol and Morgan's successful career start.
We wish Morgan and Idol all the best for continued success together.

It was a very exciting show indeed for the youngster Carlingford Park Intuition who at only his second outing enjoyed spectacular results to the credit of his young rider Morgan Gray. Starting the day with a win in his Newcomer galloway class he went on to win his Open galloway event and later take out Champion Small Galloway accolades. In the meantime, in another ring, Idol also won his Riding Pony class and was sashed Champion Ridden Breed Exhibit in a large line up of well seasoned ponies. The day was concluded with an absolutely thrilled Morgan working out to be awarded 'the Style Perpetual Trophy' for Supreme Champion Galloway.

outing at Morrisett last weekend.

We also extend congratulations to Kayla Booth on the successful saddle debut of her Hunter pony JL Country Charm.
Beautifully ridden by Kristy Glover, Dudley took out a number of classes at the HV Twlight show before being sashed Reserve Champion Hunter Pony & Reserve Champion Ridden Breeds pony ahead of some very well performed ponies the following day. Being the consistent little fellow he is, partnered by 'moi', he also picked up qualifications in all his breed registrations in-hand both days and was awarded Reserve Champion Riding Pony at Hunter Regional SHC show behind Kayla's filly CP Indulgence - a great day for KB Browbands show team.
Dudley is a credit to both Kayla & Kristy's preparation and he will undoubedtly continue to figure in many championship line-ups in the coming years..

JL Country Charm - on the move.
At Carlingford Park we recently welcomed a new team mascot - 'Bear'. Having bred him some four years previous he returned home when his much devastated owner Prue was unable to keep him due to a change in circumstances. So off to the aiport we headed to meet 'Bear' a 45kg+ male Doberman. A little unsure of what to expect, or how he would settle into farm life for a boy from Brisbane, our minds were soon put to rest when we were greeted by a happy smiling chunk of a lad.
After a rather rough lesson in 'who rules around here' couresty of CP Socialite Bear soon settled in and is a favourite of our son Liam. Ever failthful he is never far from whoever is out and about on the farm and if more than one shares his time between all. Little Lucy (our Cavalier) is quite accepting but on occassion when the urge gets a little to much for the big fellow he receives a reminder from Pizza (the family cat) that size doesn't amount to everything in the 'boss' stakes. We hope eventually Bear may join us on a show outing however we may need to reinvest in a 3 horse float again I think.

A big thank you to Sara Robb for the lovely photos she took and forwarded to us all after the HV Regional Show Horse event at Morrisett. Like a child in a lollie shop, with her new 'toy' in hand she darted from one ring to another capturing many special moments. Thanks Sara - great job!

The following day at Hunter Regional Show Horse Association Show Carlingford Park Indulgence had a super day taking our Champion Riding Pony and Champion Part Welsh exhibit from large quality championship line ups. As us,ual beautifully prepared and presented by Kayla Boot,h Isobel showed her little heart out for me in the much cooler conditions.
February 10, 2010.
Congratulations to connections of Carlingford Park ponies who attended Morrisett Agricultural show recently. In the open pony hack ring it was exciting to see both the Champion and Reserve Champion accolades go to homebred ponies with Kristy Glover's CP Intrigue working foot perfect yet again to claim the red, white and blue. Equally pleasing was CP High Society's excellent effort to take out the Reserve Champion sash with some lovely work. Sitting second to Sabrina in her open class was the petite Carlingford Park Vaucluse, for the Borg family, making that event a one, two for CP ponies as well. Well done to everyone concerned.

Good luck to everyone heading out to competitions this weekend. Hopefully the weather in NSW will be kinder than last weekend which saw the cancellation of the Super Show set down for Camden.
On a personal note, our youngster Westlake National Anthem has headed off to the breaker for some light work and at home we have started work on our lovely filly CP Sweet Embrace who will step out in hand again shortly.
February 25, 2010.
I had planned to do an update earlier in the week with the great results the CP team achieved at Maitland on the weekend since then howevr Kristy Glover and her little superstar CP Intrigue headed south to try their luck at Canberra Royal.
After many years of waiting for our first babies to grow up and a lot of effort by so many our stud was finally about to have it's first representative under saddle at a royal show and what a debut it was....
CONGRATULATIONS to Kristy and Isaak
on winning the
* Novice Pony Hack 12.2hh ne 13hh *
* Open Pony Hack 12.2hh ne 13hh *
* Ridden Riding Pony 12.2hh ne 13hh *
* 4th Ridden Part Welsh *
at their Royal Show debut.
We are so very proud of you!
We wish this wonderful partnership all the best for continued success throughout the rest of the show where they are due to contend the Riding Pony, Part Welsh and Open Pony Hack events before heading home. We hope to have a photo of the duo to include in the near future.
The following day, and with the benefit of the side shows wizzing in full force,
Sienna worked brighter to take out Champion Part Welsh Youngstock exhibit.
Also stepping out in recent weeks as a newcomer the very elegant Carlingford Park Heaven Reigns (Rothwell Toytown x Silkwood Heaven Blessed). Under the guidance of owner Kate Fitzsimmons Chipmonk made his saddle debut at Glenn Innes winning Reserve Champion Ridden Riding Pony. He also attended Gunnedah Hack Show where he was sashed Reserve Champion Newcomer Galloway ...yes galloway! My little Chipmonk, who I genuinely expected to stand around the 13.2hh mark at best has shot up to sit comfortably to take on the little galloway ring. Wow, lucky I never guarantee heights...LOL
An elegant, refined youngster Chippy will certainly be a force to contend with as he matures. Well done to Kate and Chippy on a successful start to their show career together.
CP Indulgence (Isobel)
Half sister of CP Intrigue
Maitland Show Results:
Back in the Hunter Valley our show team achieved a great weekend at Maitland with the homebred paid CP Intrigue and CP High Society yet again taking out Champion and Reserve Champion Pony Hack. Earlier in the day we descended on the Riding Pony ring to be awarded Champion RP Youngstock with CP Indulgence (Isaak's half sister owned in partnership with Kayla Booth) with our special girl CP Sweet Embrace being knocked off her perch to be awarded Reserve Champion RP Youngstock at her first outing for 2010.
Looking a picture CP High Society also won her RP Ridden Show Pony class and was sashed Reserve Champion Ridden Show Pony.
Congratulations to team member Kayla Booth who had a super day with her pair of ponies when JL Country Charm added to Isobel's successful morning when he took out Champion Led RP Show Hunter pony, Reserve Champion Ridden RP Show Hunter & Reserve Champion Show hunter Pony Hack.

March 6, 2010.
Another day, another show....well, not for me actually as I was required at home to lend a hand with the roofing of the barn which I might add is now up and looking very flash. Now for the internals....!!
Nontheless, there was work to be done and CP Indulgence, Kayla and Kristy flew the flag at Nabiac Agric Show this weekend with the diminuative Indulgence being awarded yet another Champion Riding Pony sash in as many outings and Reserve Champion Aust Saddle Pony exhibit. Wow, she is having a super run this season. With Kristy stepping out of the saddle briefly to take over the reins in-hand, in my absence, by all reports she did a great job with Intrigue's little sister.
Not to be upstaged by his younger stable mate Kayla's Newcomer Hunter Pony, JL Country Charm (ridden by Kristy), took out the Champion Ridden Breed Exhibit and Champion Ridden Hunter Pony in a seperate ring - well done team, great job!
March 13, 2010.
This weekend CP Sweet Embrace & CP Indulgence headed to the picturesque Gresford showground and our affinity with the Supreme Led Exhibit award continued with Sweet Embrace winning for the second consecutive year, her mother had won it the show previous.
CP Indulgence was sashed Reserve Champion Part Welsh behind Sienna and achieved a win in her ASP led class.
CP Theatrical & Zac Hooper
Thanks to Naomi Hooper for sending through news this morning that her son Zac and CP Theatrical attended the Bathurst Show last weekend where Zac was successful in the Novice Boy Rider aboard Thea. Together they also received a call in Zac's open rider. Normally ridden by sister Trinity this was a great effort for this new partnership and we wish them all the best for their future outings together..
It was lovely to see the cheeky little CP Heaven Reigns head our way and be awarded Reserve Champion Small Galloway (Ring 1) at only his third show outing for owner Kate Fitzsimmons. With quite a deal of maturing yet to be done this youngster will undoubtedly be a force to reckon with in the coming years in the Open Galloway and Riding Pony rings. Well done Kate and Chipmonk!
All in all another successful day for Carlingford Park ponies!

Well, that's it for show outings before we had into Sydney Royal and this weekend saw Westlake National Anthem step out for the first time since last October at Newcastle Show. The wait was well worth it with Neon sashed Champion Riding Pony Stallion/Colt winning his entry into the Supreme Champion Riding Pony line up which he took out amongst a strong group of quality Riding Ponies.
Later that day he had his first ride away from home since being broken in last month and was beautifully behaved for one so young and inexperienced. We are really looking forward to being able to show him under saddle when he comes of age. To date he has taken to his new discipline like a dream.
A huge congratulations to Kayla Booth (KB Browbands) on a superb day out with her little gentleman JL Country Charm. Dudley started out on Friday winning Champion Riding RP, Champion Ridden Part Welsh and Reserve Champ ASP & Arabian Derivative but didn't stop there. Today he took out Champion Ridden Show Hunter, Supreme Show Hunter and THEN Supreme Champion Hack of the Show - WOW...and he is a newcomer!
An enormous credit to Kayla and a super effort by educator and team jockey Kristy Glove..go girls!
The weekend previous saw CP High Society make her last show appearance at Hawkesbury Autumn Hack Show before heading into her first Royal Show. Not to be out done she didn't disappoint taking out Champion Pony Hack just ahead of runner-up Grand National Small Pony winner Owendale Honeycomb.
The day also saw the debut outing for Colleen and Sara Robb's new galloway Deeplake Black Coffee who was awarded Reserve Champion Galloway.
Good luck to everyone competing at Sydney Royal in the coming weeks. We look forward to catching up with many friends whilst down there.
Westlake National Anthem ridden by Kristy Glover at their first 'away from home' ride since being started under saddle in February.
Congratulations toTina Mougios & Carlingford Park In Vogue who at their first dressage test together achieved a great win. Well done guys... a lifetime goal achieved.
Tina & Vogue with their winning trophy....

May 2, 2010.
With Sydney Royal now behind us and only one show left on our agenda before our winter break I have finally found a moment to update our news.
The first half of 2010 has seen National Anthem make only two show ring appearances (incl Sydney Royal) so we ventured to Gosford yesterday where he continued to excel taking out
Champion Riding Pony , Champion Part Welsh and Reserve Champion ASP
Many thanks to Kayla Booth for joining us ensuring Neon hit the ring looking the 'goods'.
It is expected he will have one more outing before enjoying a much earned break prior to the stud season. Having broken in beautifully earlier this year we are very excited about his saddle debut in 2011.
Sydney Royal wrap up ...
Unfortunately our little star CP Sweet Embrace didn't make an appearance at Sydney this year after a servere virus sidelined her shortly after Gresford Show and disappointingly it also appears to have taken a toll on her impending foal. CP Intrigue was also left behind at home but thankfully Kristy still came along contributing enormously to the success of the remaining team and ensuring Neon gained some much valued 'saddle' experience riding him regularly in the park during our stay in the 'big smoke'.

Carlingford Park High Society
September 7, 2010.
Spring has sprung and with it comes the exciting news that Westlake National Anthem's first foal has arrived ...but more on that later in the update.
We have made an early start to the second half of the show season with CP Hall of Fame finally hitting the show scene after his debut outing some 18 mths ago. With still so much maturing to be done he hasn't disappointed at his first two show appearances taking out Champion Part Welsh colt and Reserve Champion ASP Youngstock at the recent APSB Annual Show held at Luddenham. After a 3 hour trip and arriving without enough time for a quick hitout on the lunge Hamish was initially overwhelmed with the outing in his first class which unfortunately was his Riding Pony event. However, after a quick spin on the lunge for ten minutes he recovered to redeem himself for the rest of the day taking out Champion Part Welsh colt and Reserve Champion Junior Aust Saddle Pony.
At his second appearance at the HV Spring show a week later, now obviously an 'old' hand at the showing game he behaved beautifully to win all his breed classes and go on to be sashed Supreme Champion All Breeds Exhibit.
(Hamish pictured below after his Supreme win)
Now back to our exciting foal news ...congratulations to Colleen and Sara Robb whose successful Royal Show winning galloway mare Roseagle Spring Surprise foaled the cutest little bay filly a week earlier than expected in late August. A beautiful combination of both Neon and Dotti the filly has nonetheless taken on the attention seeking showoff attributes that both parents share. To be christened Carlingford Park Spring Collection, or 'Dior' to her friends the spritely little miss already loves to be the centre of attention.
Not to be out done, 3/4 sibling CP Sweet Embrace at her first outing since March (after contracting a severe virus which saw her miss Sydney Royal) Sienna was awarded Champion Riding Pony Exhibit in the RP Feature Ring. A successful final show ring appearance before spending some time in the broodmare paddock as we are quietly confident she has managed to retain her much wanted foal by National Anthem due in late Decem
In the coming weeks we have both Mirinda Touch of Diamonds due to foal to Hall of Fame and our Footlight mare Meadowbrook Mosaic due to National Anthem. In late October we look forward to welcoming anoher Anthem foal to Willowcroft Star Attraction in late October. We envisage the majority of this crop of foals will be offered for sale.
We have now started working on our beautiful Boy Soprano yearling filly who we think is quite special and we look forward to her making her showring debut in the coming months.
National Anthem, at his first Sydney Royal Show didn't disappoint winning his Australian Saddle Pony Class and being sashed Reserve Champion ASP Stallion or Colt. He was decorated in red in his Riding Pony class and was placed a slightly disappointing 4th in his Part Welsh. Whilst his awards were very pleasing it was the way in which he handled being ridden out in the park amongst the hussle and bussle of horses working that really thrilled us. Having been broken in only a short time beforehand he is proving to be a real little 'star' under saddle, a virtue we certainly hope he will pass on to his progeny.
Carlingford Park High Society, coped beautifully at her first major saddle outing. Having measured up by the tiniest of margins saw her contest the big pony classes where she placed 5th in her Novice and 6th in the Open Pony hack event but it was her 6th in the Ridden Riding Pony class against horses up to 14.2hh that was especially pleasing. Requiring only a few minutes on the lunge and a short warm up before her classes we expect Sabrina will certainly benefit from the experience. Congratulations to Colleen and Sara on having Sabrina look the best I've seen her, she is a credit to your efforts!
Carlingford Park Indulgence - what a ripper little pony! Beautifully prepared by Kayla Booth Isobel was looking an absolute treat. She handled every aspect of her first Royal Show experience, including the grand parade like it was a mere stroll in the park. Our diminutive little lady turned out to be very consistent performer placing 4th in a very large, open age, Aust Saddle Pony class under 13hh, she then achieved a very creditable 3rd in a strong lineup of Riding Pony fillies before placing 5th in her Part Welsh. Not once all show did she put a foot wrong or complain! She will shortly come home for a holiday at which time we will decide whether she will spend a year in the broodmare paddock before starting a saddle career or just be put aside to grow before being broken in.
JL Country Charm - owned and prepared by Kayla, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to handle Dudley to a win in his Part Welsh and was later the same day sashed Champion Aust Partbred. He also placed 4th in his Aust Saddle Pony & 5th in his Riding Pony class. Well done on another great effort Kayla.
Thanks to the whole team for another fun and rewarding Sydney Royal!
We look forward to organising some professional photos in the coming weeks to share throughout our site.

This weekend we headed to Quirindi Agricultural show with CP Hall of Fame.
Again Hamish was able to impress winning his class in all three breed registrations and going on to take out the Championship in Riding Pony, Aust Saddle Pony and Part Welsh. Whilst slightly daunted early by the showjumping at his first Agricultural Show appearance he relaxed in the afternoon to work well and take out the Supreme Champion Led Exhibit win against some lovely pony breeds, stock horses and thoroughbreds.
Carlingford Park Hall of Fame - Supreme Champion Led Exhibit
November 14, 2010.
So much has filled our time since our last update. We have been busily covering mares and welcoming new additions including the first of Hall of Fame's foals. To be known as CP Trade Secret young 'Tucker' is quite exciting and we can't wait to campaign him as a yearling. The little guy is only 6 weeks old and we have his future mapped out already!
Whilst the breeding side has taken up much of our time we have managed to venture out into the showring with our lovely Boy Soprano yearling filly CP Double Take who was sashed Champion RP Mare/Filly, Best Youngstock and Supreme Champion Riding Pony by Riding Pony enthusiast Jodi Allen at the APSB National Stud & Pony Show last weekend. She was also successful at the Hunter Valley All Breeds Show taking out Champion Riding Pony in absolutely appalling wet conditions.
Duet nows head to the ESH Championship show before earning herself a summer break.
Since July we, as a family, have been raising a wallaby joey who was very 'originally' christened 'Skip'. After taking her from a little pinkie inside her dead mum's pouch on the roadside,we nutured her around the clock to a lovely healthy and active wallaby loved by everyone. Sadly, we lost our little charge after a short illness, unable to be assisted by veterinary assistance, she slipped away in Steve's arms on Friday evening.
It is hard to fathom how attached we would become to a little wild creature that would have had to be allowed to be free one day anyway but to say Skip touched all of us would be an understatment despite the hours of care she took.
RIP our little friend, thank you for enriching our lives.
Next was the NSW Annual Riding Pony Show where they were sashed Champion Newcomer Show Hunter, Supreme Champion Show Hunter before taking out the coveted Grand Champion Ridden title.
Finally, we headed to the APSB National Stud & Pony Show were I handled him to a number of reserve accolades before he was sashed Supreme Champion Led Arabian Riding Pony on the Saturday but not content with that the following day saw him take out Champion Newcomer Riding Pony, Champion Show Hunter Riding Pony, Champion Ridden Partbred Aust Pony and Champin Ridden Part Welsh under 13hh partnered for the first time by a child rider in the talented and diminutive Maddy Ovington. Later in the afternoon, again partnered by Kristy they were called forward to be sashed the inaugural winner of the Jill Grant Memorial Supreme Champion Ridden Breeds Exhibit.
WOW, what a run...as is often heard around the rings lately ...GO DUDLEY!!
An amazing feat for a little newcomer Show Hunter pony and a real credit to Kayla, Kristy and 'the Dudmister' himself.
So now it is off to Grand National and Sydney Royal for this superstar little pony. It is most certainly going to be a very sad day in 2011 when he is offered for sale to a special home as he has certainly become the pony we all share.
Some lucky little child is going to get one awesome little star!

On a brighter note, congratulations to Kayla Booth and JL Country Charm who have enjoyed an amazing run of big show success over the past weeks. Beautifully ridden by Kristy Glover Dudley first took out the HOTY Newcomer & Open Small Hunter Pony titles before venturing the following week to the All Welsh were they won Newcomer Part Welshr & Champion Ridden PW under 12.2hh, taking out led Part Welsh alog the way.

We have now welcomed three of our four babies for 2010 ...our Footlight imp mare M Mosaic had a typey bay galloway filly foal, Willowcroft Star Attraction produced an elegant leggy brown colt foal to mature galloway (a big effort for a maiden mare) and of course the lovely Mirinda Touch of Diamonds produced the exquisite little black liver colt foal CP Terade Secret who we plan to retain. The Robb family also plan to retain the petite filly foal produced by their lovely mare R. Spring Surprise.
We now await the arrival of Sweet Embrace's first baby due around Christmas time... we are very excited to see what she may produce for us to National Anthem.
As the year draws to a close once again, with Christmas discending on us all at a rapid rate, we have much to look forward to in 2011. With CP Indulgence at the breaker for Kayla Booth, CP Cut Above in work being prepared for sale his newcomer year with Kristy Glover the close of the stud season will also see CP Hall of Fame head off to the breaker.
Preparations are about to commence for the long awaited saddle debut of CP Socialite and stallion Westlake National Anthem in the new year so there is still much to be done. It does make one wonder if there is ever a 'down' time in this industry.

December 31st, 2010.
As dusk settles on 2010 we are keenly preparing for the new show season with a number of Newcomers set to debut. Carlingford Park Socialite, Cut Above and Westlake National Anthem are all due to step out in late January with Kristy Glover in the saddle. We also welcomed home last week CP Hall of Fame who spent the past 3 weeks at the breaker and is now continuing his education with Kristy at home. CP Indulgence was also started a short time ago for Kayla Booth and will be given some more time to mature before she makes a saddle appearance.
Carlingford Park Hall of Fame - second ride at home after 3 weeks at the breaker.
It was nice to hear that CP Heaven Reigns has returned to the show ring with success after the debacle of his trip across the Nullabour to then be returned immediately home to his Tamworth stable without so much as time to recover from the initial trip.
From all reports in NSW it appears the female purchaser from WA is a serial defaulter having since defaulted on a second sale however thankfully the second galloway didn't endure the trip over before the sale was cancelled.
Potential breeders and sellers should be wary!
After recovering from travel sickness Chippy has since recovered and back on his winning way in the ring...her loss is Kate's gain and we wish them much success in 2011 and beyond.

Well done to Alexis Borg on qualifying and being accepted for Canberra Royal with Carlingford Park Vaucluse. We wish you all the best for your trip south in February.
Also of interest is the beautiful photographic artwork Alexis is creating. Anyone interested in getting your photos producted into beautful works of art can contact Alexis at d_rborg@tpg.com.au.

Earlier this month we were sadden to lose a devine colt foal from CP Sweet Embrace by W.National Anthem . Foaling a few days early and with a redbag presentation even with immediate intervention the foal was still born. Thankfully, with some time having passed, Sienna has recovered from the experience, as have I.
That completes our foaling season and we are very grateful for the three very nice babies we have to start weaning early in the new year, two of which are offered for sale and available on weaning. Both foals are by our first season sire Westlake National Anthem and will mature galloways.
Carlingford Park Star Witness - a dark brown/black colt foal from Willowcroft Star Attraction (sod: Willowcroft Regal Emblem) and
Carlingford Park Milan - a bay filly (one hind sock & small star) from Meadowbrook Mosaic (sod: Rotherwood Footlight imp).
Both foals are spectacular movers, very leggy with gorgeous heads, huge expressive eyes (complete with Neon's wrinkles above the eyes), and turned in ears. They will be registered Riding Ponies and eligible ASP, with Milly also eligible Arabian Riding Pony.
(Part Welsh eligibility will need to be investigated further).
Both Bentley and Milly are undoubedtly Royal Show open quality prospects and offered at reasonable prices to good show homes.

Further inquries and updated photos available on request.
