Winter News

The first day of winter and my hands are so cold I'm constantly making typo's as I try to update our site visitors on what we've been up to at Carlingford Park over the past 6 weeks.

Our racehorse has kept his partnership members entertained with a number of outings to the races where he has shown some ability. Sam has run some promising trial placings and whilst racing very greenly in his first few starts we are looking forward to his 3 year preparation in the spring. He has recently returned home for some 'R & R' where he has settled in well and enjoying the company of his pony friends.

We have recently commenced work on our next newcomer prospect Carlingford Park Theatrical, a four year old galloway by Rothwell Toytown. Her dam Sterlina was by the beautiful stallion One Pound Sterling (GB). Thea will be offered for sale in the new year.
We have also started preparing Carlingford Park Vibrance for her showring debut in early spring. She is currently for sale to a suitable show home.

Our favourite girl Surprise is contentedly relaxing in the paddock, growing her 2007 baby, with Satine (CP Socialite) also enjoying a well earned break alongside her mother.

Before we know it the new shoots & blossoms of spring will start to appear and the impending arrival of new foals will take our focus along with thoughts of what stallions to send our mares out to.

In the meantime, I'm off to light the fire ...

National Riding Pony Show 2007

Congratulations to our gorgeous little 'Surprise' (Royalwood Songbird)

What a fairytale ending to Surprise's Newcomer year when she took out the 'National Champion Newcomer Riding Pony of the Year' title at the 'National Riding Pony Show' under international judge Mr Stuart Hollings of the United Kingdom.

To sit in the stand and watch our beautiful mare sparkle in the indoor arena of the SIEC complex expertly handled by Kristy Hall, of Wollongong, was an absolute pleasure. With some stiff competition from top newcomer ponies from NSW, Victoria and WA Surprise didn't let us down. She certainly put her best hoof forward all day trying  her little heart out to please. Thank you to Kristy and Surprise for your efforts on the day and thank you to Joanne Prestwidge for allowing us the opportunity, all those years ago, to own such a special pony!

It was also pleasing to see Surprise's daughter Carlingford Park Socialite called forward as a 'finalist' in the Yearling Filly ne 12.3hh class beautifully shown by her regular handler James Mullen.

Not to be left out the only other representative of the stud Carlingford Park Saintly was also a finalist in the Yearling Colt or Gelding ne 12.3hh class handled by Anthony Mountney. Congratulations to Trish Mackaway and Charlie on your success!

So now we head to Sydney Royal with Royalwood Songbird, Carlingford Park Socialite and clydesdale Tullymore Christopher, for his new owners the Onisforou family of Bowral.

An Update is Well Over Due ...

The first part of the year is usually very busy for us as far as showing is concerned however this year we enjoyed a much over due family 'non horsey' holiday on the Gold Coast. This meant we missed a number of shows but it did serve to recharge the batteries.

After a late start to the breeding season we welcomed the lovely Riding Pony stallion 'Rosedale Tempting' to the stud and to say he was a pleasure to work with would be an understatement. Simon quickly endeared himself to all residents, and visitors to Carlingford Park, with his quiet and affectionate disposition (although he was a little unsure of 'Anastacia' the family's miniature pig)!

With Simon's wealth of pedigree, exception temperament, conformation and movement to compliment our mares we look forward to an exciting foaling season in 2007.

A selection of the Tempting foals will be offered for sale. For enquiries, or to register your interest in progeny out of the following mares please email or phone the stud. All foals are due November 2007.
